There are several terms in Digital Habitats and the field of communities of practice generally that turn out to be useful in conversations and so translating them becomes an important task. Good translations will help us all communicate with each other and with people we seek to influence. The following are claimed to be authoritative, but they are translations that are used and that work:
Icelandic
- Community of practice -
- Digital habitat - stafrænt kjörlendi (direct from natural science translation of habitat and the way we translate digital in the ICT field)
- Technology steward - Tæknilóðs? (offered by Solveig Jakobsdottir)
Spanish
- Community of practice - Comunidad de Práctica
- Digital habitat - Ambiente digital.
- Technology steward - ?
- Thanks to members of the SIWA community
